How to choose your dream home: advice from Capri Dream

Our dream home is the place where we imagine building our lives, a refuge that should reflect not only our practical needs, but also our lifestyle and aspirations. Choosing the right home is a crucial step, but it can also be one of the most complex and stressful. In this article, together with Gianfranco Tropeano of Capri Dream, we’ll explore the key factors to consider to make an informed decision.

What are the first factors a buyer should consider when searching for their dream home?

“The first, essential factors to consider when searching for your dream home are, first and foremost, the property’s surface area, which should be evaluated based on the buyer’s needs. The location of the apartment is also crucial: if there are difficulties in reaching the property, it may not be a good investment. Another important factor regarding location is its proximity to shops: if a property is close to important services, such as a supermarket, it can have added value, especially in a place like Capri.”

Are there any areas on Capri that are more recommended than others?

“Choosing the ideal location for a property depends on your personal needs: a home in the center of Capri allows you to experience the island’s more social aspects, while a home on the outskirts allows you to enjoy its peace and quiet. For example, for those who want to fully enjoy Capri’s sea, I would recommend the Marina Piccola area, convenient for accessing the sea, or Marina Grande; if you’re looking for tranquility, Anacapri or the upper parts of the Tiberio neighborhood are preferable.”

What are the most common mistakes when choosing your home?

One of the most common mistakes made by those choosing an apartment in Capri concerns the apartment’s exposure: a property with little sunlight is therefore colder and will be subject to higher humidity in winter. This is a factor to consider, especially if the apartment is on the ground floor. In Capri, the best areas for this are those in Marina Piccola, where there is good exposure to sunlight, such as those in Sopramonte and Matermania.
